


The Appenzeller Spitzhauben comes from the Swiss region of Appenzeller, the land below the Alpsten mountains. Male and female birds have a forward pointing head crest or "Spitzhauben" that translates as "pointed bonnet". Appenzeller Spitzhauben are very hardy birds and excellent foragers. They are good flyers and need an avery style pen or a completely free range environment.
