The Leghorn comes from Italy. The White variety reached the UK in 1870 where it was to feature in the establishment of high egg-producing Hybrids. The Brown Leghorn followed a few years later. The Leghorn is flighty but with good handling it can be tamed. These birds are popular because they're prolific layers.
