The Vorwerk comes from Hamburg and was developed by Oskar Vorwerk in 1900. The aim was to develop a mid-weight, economical, utility fowl. The breed is particularly suited to farmyards and small holdings as they mature quickly and are excellent foragers. The Vorwerk is rare breed.
