MARAN
Taking it’s name from the French town of Marans, this bird was imported into England in the 1920s. The Maran is always popular as it lays a large number of rich, dark brown eggs. Recent years has seen the importing of the even darker egg-laying strains such as French Wheaten, Copper Blue and Copper Black these varieties have lightly feathered legs.
Characteristics: Marans are generally placid and are therefore easy to look after. Will be active if given space but can also thrive in a contained environment.

Hatching eggs can also be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery, packed in purpose made polystyrene boxes at the postage cost of £6 per half dozen.
