Origin: Originally developed by William Cook of Orpington in Kent in the 1880s The bantam Orpington is a quarter of the size of the large fowl version.Characteristics: Orpingtons are active but docile birds, they suit confinement or a free range environment, and they make excellent mothers.

Hatching eggs can also be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery, packed in purpose made polystyrene boxes at the postage cost of £6 per half dozen.
